Today I came across an article on Adage.com about Airborne settling a class action false-advertising lawsuit for $23.3 million and it reminded me of my post on the Dr. Jarvik Lipitor ads.
Airborne is going to give refunds to consumers who bought their product and it will put out ads in major newspapers and magazines informing people know how they can get refunds.
Airborne was advertised, promoted and marketed as a product that could boost your immune system to help fight colds and protect you from germs. There is no solid evidence to prove that this is true.
I also read in the article that Airborne denies that they have done anything wrong. I think that the company screwed up big time and they need to take responsibility for it. I think they should do more than give refunds.
Ha, so I’ve been sitting at my desk for a while now and I didn’t notice this until now, but I have an unopened box of pink grapefruit flavored Airborne on my desk. I heard about how good Airborne was from my cousin a while back and I must have thought it was worth trying.
This whole thing just proves that you shouldn’t believe everything that you see or hear about new products. I think that I should start taking the time to carefully research new products, especially health products, before I even think about trying them.
